The Australian Government amended the Australian Food Standards Code last October, to now provide "food business operators with a choice to either permit dogs in their outdoor dining areas or prohibit them from the area". However, the national law does not prohibit conditions being set by local governments, but in general dogs are being permitted in outdoor areas throughout the country. Since 2010 Dogs are allowed in outdoor dining areas in Sydney with the permission of the owner of the establishment. For details see this link:
