Ketchum, Idaho is a dog friendly place, located next to the world famous Sun Valley ski and summer resort. Many businesses provide water bowls and the majority of locals are owned by their canine friends. Dogs are allowed off-lead on the over 30 miles of paved walking/ bike path, with some doggie bag stations and water. Dogs are allowed off lead in the local forests, with three rivers to play in...the Big Wood river, Trail Creek, and Warm Springs creek.
Dogs often accompany their people to the numerous free summer outdoor concerts. There are many excellent veterinary hospitals and a no-kill animal shelter: ASWRV.com (Animal shelter of the Wood River Valley).

Texas Sam's Sub Shop in Norfolk, VA is great for taking your dog. They have outdoor seating, where dogs are welcome. They will provide a water bowl for your canine friend, and also usually offer to cut up a meatball for a snack. As well, they have a big jar of dog treats at the register. Highly recommended if looking for great food where you can take your dog. Located at
4311 Colley Ave

From a reader:
how anyone could consider silver city, nm dog friendly is beyond my grasp. even the simple act of walking a dog without restraint on your private acreage being illegal, and ownership of more than two dogs of any size requiring a kennel license with concrete and chain link enclosures for full time enclosure, it seems less than friendly to dogs, and more like "dogschwitz".

We are residents of North Port, Florida. We have taken our furry dog son to Venice Doggy Beach. We were walking down the walkway and were very dissapointed of the public. They let their dogs, mostly big dogs, letting them poop right on the walkway right near bags that the state provides for us for free. Also saw people throwing the bag with poop in it and throw into the woods. These feces are going into the ground and eventually either ends up in the ocean, or into our water systems that you are drinking. The water faucet up by the picnic tables had dog feces all aroung it. the water was brown in the bowl. dogs are digging holes right by the bowl and there was floating feces in it as well as all over ground everywhere. It was disgusting. Then we get down to the beach, people just letting their dogs poop anywhere without picking up. Do you people know how sick you are going to make people never mind your animals. Last time we went there it wasn't as bad. This time we were grossed out. How people can be so lazy and inconsiderate especially it is such a safe and nice walkway to the water for our animals you could be alittle more considerate of other people and their dogs. There are doggie bags and trash barrels available so you do not have to throw in the woods or take home in your hot car.
