Today is “Take your dog to work day”

Friday, June 25th, 2010

For over a decade a number of employers have honored a Friday in June as “Take Your Dog To Work Day” where once a year, people can take their dogs with them to work. While we appreciate the nod to dogs at the workplace, we think that, in a lot of workplaces, offices and other places of employment, we would like to see every day be “Take Your Dog To Work Day”.

K-9 Regains Mobility with Walkin’ Wheels for Handicapped Pets

Friday, June 25th, 2010

After serving as a patrol and narcotics K-9 with the Fairfax County, Virginia police department for ten years, Koal was looking forward to retirement with his partner Jose´ Arango. K-9 Koal is a 12-year old East European Shepherd who successfully located and captured numerous criminals and made several drug finds during his law enforcement career.

Koal had always been an extremely active dog who traveled everywhere with his partner both on the job and while off duty. So, the sudden loss of mobility was both physically and mentally challenging for Koal.

When back surgery proved unsuccessful and additional surgery was too risky, Koal’s owner and former handler Jose´ Arango, a retired police officer, found a solution with the Walkin’ Wheels for Handicapped Pets.

“Koal is quite the celebrity in his Walkin’ Wheels cart. He’s a much happier dog, and we’re so grateful,” Arango commented.
