Top 200 Places: Fairbanks’ Pioneer Park

Historic buildings/vehicles, museums, mini golf, mining and maritime exhibits, a 35 cabin “stampede era” gold rush town, a narrow gauge train, gathering centers, concessionaires, daily and annual activities, an RV parking area, and much more are to be found at this 44 acre historically themed park. The park is open all year; however, concessionaires are only on site from Memorial Day until September 3. The visitor center is just inside the main gate where park information and RV registration can be obtained. Dogs are allowed throughout the park except in food service areas and in some of the buildings. Dogs must be under their owner’s control, leashed, and cleaned up after at all times. Doggy stations are provided.

Fashion Island Mall is known as Southern California’s premier open-air shopping center. And they allow dogs. Some of the stores allow your well-behaved dog inside. Please always ask the store clerk before bringing your dog inside, just in case policies have changed. For a list of dog-friendly stores, please look at our stores category. You can also shop at the numerous outdoor retail kiosks located throughout the mall. Work up an appetite after walking around? Try dining at the fast food court located upstairs which has many outdoor seats complete with heaters.

Visitors will take a step back in time on this driving tour of the area that was once a strategically important site during the Civil War. There are 15 sites of interest on the tour. Leashed dogs are allowed at the sites; they are not allowed in any buildings.
