Using TTouch with Pets lecture

The Tellington TTouch method is a gentle, hands-on approach to the care and training of our animal companions. Using specialized touches and movement exercises, TTouch helps reduce various signs of stress such as excessive barking and separation anxiety. It will also enhance your pet’s self-confidence, allowing your pet to learn new and more appropriate behaviors. TTouch can ease challenges associated with aging and provide supportive care during illness or injury. During the class, participants will learn basic touches and wraps through demonstration and group participation. Cost is $12 per person and includes materials, light snacks and non-alcoholic refreshments. Please note classes are for people only – please leave your great pets at home. Bring your friendly, on-leash dog to socialize with other dogs during our Doggie Café events. Dogs should be friendly and on-leash. One dog per human handler please. Dogs should be at least 4 months old and up-to-date on all vaccines, including rabies, to attend. Limited beverages, sandwiches, salads, and more available for purchase. Complimentary desserts and dog treats provided. First Aid for Dogs and Cats

This American Red Cross class covers treatments for various pet emergencies, including choking, shock, poisoning, and broken bones. $60 per person with choice of dog or cat book/DVD set. Come learn about all forms of oral disease, including caries (cavities), endodontic (root canal) disease, cancer, orthodontics, trauma, and the local and systemic effects of periodontal disease, from Dr. Brook Niemiec, DVM. Mobile Licensing Clinic

Animal Adventure Camp

Each year, hundreds of kids join us for Animal Adventure Camp. Games, crafts and hands-on animal activities all help children develop respect and a positive attitude toward all living beings. Head Start is an introductory-level course that addresses training areas of immediate concern to dog owners. Course topics include loose leash walking, come, attention to owner, appropriate greetings, settle down, wait, and more. The Head Start course consists of five sessions with each session lasting 1 hour and 15 minutes. This class is designed to meet the needs of all dogs over 18 weeks and older. There are no pre-requisites for this class. Proof of rabies vaccinations and pre-registration are required. All dogs must be non-aggressive towards other dogs. In the event that your dog may not do well in environments with multiple people and dogs, your trainer may advise you to other training options. Canine Good Citizen

Canine Good Citizen is an intermediate-level obedience course geared towards passing the Canine Good Citizen certification test. The class may be taken with or without certification test. Four sessions include class time and the final session is for testing. Each session is 1 hour and 15 minutes in length. Canine Good Citizen is for dogs over 18 weeks of age. Completion of Head Start, or similar positive-reinforcement course including clicker training is required for this class. Proof of rabies vaccination and pre-registration are required. Incredible Therapy Dog–Koko the Labradoodle

Steven Herz always wanted a dog growing up, but never had the chance until he met his chocolate labradoodle named Koko. Koko was the first mixed breed to receive the honor of the American Kennel Club’s new certified working therapy dog title, ThD. “Having Koko to enjoy for myself would have been enough, but to be able to share her with thousands of others through therapy work is remarkable,” said Steven. The Seeing Eye 5th Annual Online Auction will open at 9 a.m. on April 22 and close at 9 p.m. on May 1. All items in the auction catalog are donated by generous individuals and organizations, and all proceeds from the final sale price of each item go directly to support The Seeing Eye’s mission of enhancing the independence and dignity of people who are blind and visually impaired through the use of Seeing Eye® dogs.
