On Throwback Thursday, what could be better than going back to the ’90s? You know, the land of fax machines, Beanie Babies, the Macarena and one of the biggest prime-time sitcom hits of the era: “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.”
We’ll tell you what could be better: THE FRESH PUP OF BEL-AIR, a new “petody” (that’s pet parody) from The Pet Collective, the top pet-themed channel on YouTube, which even features a cameo by “Fresh Prince” star James Avery, who played Uncle Phil on the series.
Starring “Will Sniff” in the title role, The Pet Collective’s homage to “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” replicates the once-you’ve-heard-it-you-can’t-forget-it opening theme and title sequence – but with a twist. This Fresh Pup isn’t exiled to Bel-Air – he’s rescued from an animal shelter, only to discover he’s being adopted by none other than “Fresh Prince” star James Avery himself!
“Petodies based on current, modern songs have been hugely successful, so for Throwback Thursday we thought it would be fun to revisit one of our favorite sitcoms,” said Tom Maynard, channel head of The Pet Collective.
Since launching its “Petody” series last summer, its Corgi-themed rendition of “Call Me Maybe” has garnered nearly 4 million views, and a canine-inspired parody of One Direction’s “One Thing” has had nearly 2 million views.
