Northward Hound, Offering a Unique Twist on NYC Pet Care, Announces Changes for the 2013 Season
Northward Hound makes changes to their unforgettable weekend adventure for dogs. Pups will travel 250 miles away to scenic New Hampshire, where they enjoy hiking, swimming, exploring, basking, and relaxing. New hiking trails, beach spots and pet friendly spots pepper the 2013 season.
Two young women from the same tiny New Hampshire town met on a park bench in New York City completely by chance. Leeland Allen and Jennifer Bowen grew up 8 miles from one another yet barely knew each other before their fateful meeting in New York City. Both had thriving pet care businesses on their own and before long they joined forces to create Northward Hound a small business that would blossom into something they had always dreamed of but had not thought was possible.
Now, six years later, Leeland Allen and Jennifer Bowen, co-owners of Northward Hound continue to offer New York City dogs unique weekend adventures to serene locations in rural New Hampshire. Their success has introduced them to some of New York’s friendliest pups and their owners. With 15 years of combined experience in New York City, the ladies of Northward Hound have truly made a name for themselves in the growing field of Pet Care.
“This year we are offering new perks to repeat travelers. We will also be taking advantage of more ‘dog friendly’ hikes, park locations, and swimming areas. We are thrilled to travel to different places within New Hampshire and enjoy more of the dog-friendly locations it has to offer,” Allen explains.
While on vacation, Northward Hound dogs will be doing anything but roughing it. Their weekend getaway begins with round-trip transportation from New York to New Hampshire, starting with door-to-door pick up. During their stay, dogs will live in the lap of luxury with private sleeping quarters at a countryside estate. Daily adventures allow each pet to explore and experience activities that will truly stimulate their senses. “Our dogs enjoy car rides, mountain hiking, lake swimming, seaside play with wave jumping, explorative nature walks, running in wide open fields, visiting with barnyard animals, and unforgettable seasonal activities throughout New Hampshire,” says Bowen. Allen adds that, “Safety is our top priority. Every weekend is carefully modified to encompass the activity level and overall disposition of each group of dogs. We are not just for super agile, active pups. We have the ability to make these adventures accessible to every age group and personality.”
One of the many perks of traveling with Northward Hound is that they offer exclusivity — no more than eight dogs are allowed on each excursion. At the end of every vacation travelers enjoy a complimentary full-service bath, blow dry, and brush out before heading home.
While on vacation, owners can track their pup’s progress with real-time status updates and photos via Facebook and Twitter (@NorthwardHound). “I always look forward to capturing the sheer enjoyment on a dog’s face when they do what dogs innately love to do most,” Bowen exclaims. This inside look into the pet getaway gives owners the security of knowing their four-legged friends are being cared for with the utmost compassion and kindness.“I’m so happy that I can send ‘Brinkley’ to New Hampshire where she can get plenty of fresh air, swim in the ocean, hike up a mountain and play with other dogs. What’s more important is that I know Jennifer & Leeland are professionals and will take excellent care of ‘Brinkley’, so I can relax and have a worry-free weekend,” adds Helen, Brinkley’s owner.
