Rhode Island is a small state, especially if all you see of it is the drive on Interstate 95 between New York and Boston. But don’t let its size fool you. There is a lot for you and your dog to do in Rhode Island for vacation. Rhode Island is about sea, surf, and coastline. Newport is the dog-friendly center of the state and a great place to use as your base on a visit. However, you may want to spend a beach vacation on Block Island. And Providence has some places to go with your dog as well. Rhode Island is so centrally located that it is a short drive from tens of millions of people. New York is a few hours away by car, Boston and Hartford are even closer. And from Long Island you can take the car ferry or take the ferry without your vehicle. So there is much to do and it’s not far away. What’s not to like?
