New Orleans is one of the most scenic and visited cities in the country. Prior to Hurricane Katrina in 2005 New Orleans had a population of 500,000. Now the Population is about 350,000. New Orleans is located between Lake Pontchartrain and the Mississippi River. It is near the mouth of the Mississippi River and serves as a Gulf port city. The city’s most visited area, the French Quarter was not affected much by the hurricane. Famous Royal and Bourbon Streets are located in the French Quarter and your dog is usually very welcome in this section of town. The waterfront, the Garden District and Downtown are also near the French Quarter and encompass the majority of tourist attractions in the city.
