This year’s Run for the Seals will be held on Saturday March 13, 2010, in the beautiful Marin Headlands. Families, runners, walkers, baby-strollers and especially dogs (on a leash) are all welcome to take part. We have two routes this year:
The classic 4-mile race (self-timed): This course winds through the scenic roads, dirt tracks and hills of Fort Cronkhite, and many participants refer to it as one of the Bay Area’s most scenic and best short runs.
Plus a new 2-mile scenic route: This course is 1 mile uphill, 1 mile downhill and overlooks the ocean – aimed at those who want a shorter but still challenging and rewarding walk with viewing, refreshment and education stations along the way.
The race starts at 9.30 am, at Rodeo Beach, with our very own Frannie the Fur Seal leading the way and Kfog’s Peter Finch providing support across the airwaves – and finishes at Bunker Road, at the bottom entrance to The Marine Mammal Center. Afterwards we are inviting all racer-goers and supporters to attend our FUN DAY at the Center, where they can enjoy complimentary food (including some legendary homemade baked goods), drinks and tours. We are planning to have doggie daycare set up outside the Center (as dogs are not allowed within the hospital due to healthy and safety reasons for both our patients and your pets).
Online registration: Adults $35 / Children (5-12) $20
Race Day Registration: Adults $40 / Children (5-12) $25
Children (4 & under) and dogs are FREE.
