Sloppy Kisses and Saratoga Arts announce the official launch event for the Saratoga Springs Dog-Friendly Downtown Program (DFD). On Saturday, May 15th,
area dogs and their owners are invited to participate in the DFD Scavenger Hunt and Doggie Yappy Hour to follow.
11 am to 3 pm
Scavenger Hunt participants (both human and canine) are tasked with visiting as many DFD businesses as possible to answer a canine-related question specific to that business. Scavenger Hunt participants must answer at least 7 questions correctly to be eligible for the prize raffle, to be held as part of the culminating event of the day, Doggie Yappy Hour at Putnam Den (63A Putnam Street – Saratoga Springs). Many DFD businesses will be offering special discounts to Scavenger Hunt participants.
3 pm to 5 pm
At the Doggie Yappy Hour at Putnam Den, the Mayor of Saratoga Springs (the Honorable Scott Johnson), his wife Julie and their new dog will be recognized and will confer prizes donated by DFD businesses to those Scavenger Hunt participants that qualify. A special prize will be awarded to the Scavenger Hunt participant who collects the most correct Scavenger Hunt answers.
Scavenger Hunt ballots (see attached) are available at Sloppy Kisses (493 Broadway, Saratoga Springs). Scavenger Hunt ballots can also be downloaded from the DFD website (www.dogfriendlydowntown.blogspot.com). The event will take place rain or shine. Sloppy Kisses and Saratoga Arts would like to thank Event Sponsor The Adirondack Trust Company for their support of the DFD Program.
The DFD Program provides an opportunity for Saratoga Springs businesses to identify and market themselves as dog-friendly, hopefully reaching new customers and increasing sales. For locals and Spa City visitors, DFD offers an easy and accessible way to find businesses that cater to them and their dogs. To date, over 30 businesses are part of DFD. Dog owners can identify dog-friendly businesses via a window decal that is prominently displayed by participating businesses (see attached DFD decal). In addition, participating businesses are listed and linked on the DFD website.
