I don’t see any listings for Escondido, dog friendly places, however I know of a few…. one of the BEST… is Cocina Del Charro @ 525 North Quince Street – Escondido, CA 92025-2523 (760) 745-1382 Fabulous food! Great service! And they have a nice little outdoor patio where they allow our furry friends to sit outside with us and eat and have a couple of drinks! Highly recommended! Happy Hour 3-5 Monday through Friday!

Looking for a dog friendly restaurant in the Half Moon Bay CA area?

The Moss Beach Distillery has a beautiful heated outdoor patio, overlooking the Pacific Ocean, where they welcome all well-behaved dogs and their owners. They even have a menu that has been designed specifically for dogs only. Their dog food menu features items such as grilled hot dogs, mini burger patties, and even a skirt steak for those really good dogs.

Through the end of August they are holding a dog photo contest. They ask that you bring your dog to the Distillery and they will take your dog’s picture as they enjoy the patio. There will be one first prize winner who will receive a $100 gift certificate to the Distillery. Two second place winners will receive a $50 gift certificate and five third place winners will receive a $25 gift certificate. This should be fun for the whole family. Visit the Distillery and show your furry friends what real dog food is.

For more information see their pet-friendly web page

In Claremont, CA there is a sushi place with a patio area where we always take our dog called Blue Fin on the corner of Foothill Blvd. and Claremont Blvd. On Sundays they have jazz bands playing in the afternoon. They are willing to prepare special orders on request. We order teriyaki chicken without teriyaki for our dog (as the sauce gives her the runs but without is simply grilled chicken) and she LOVES it!

Looking for a restaurant that loves dogs of all sizes and has great but inexpensive food? Check out the Dory’s Oar and Tudor Pub in South Lake Tahoe, California. Grass and deck out door seating that’s off the freeway so you don’t get the sound and your dog can relax. The waiters provide dog dishes for the pups while you can enjoy drinks and delicious food; from a large selection of “tapas,” the best burgers I’ve ever had, and a large assortment of pub food and food for a slightly more exquisite pallet. It’s a place that you and your dog will enjoy, just a short walk from the beach. Check it out if you’re ever in Tahoe.

Fabulous! Huge patio on the water for you and your pooch. Great service, great food and great value. My golden was fascinated by the sea lions, otters and gulls. They made sure he had water and that we were comfortable. This place is right on Fisherman’s Wharf. We walked down the wharf and found many dog friendly eateries. Don’t leave your fur baby home if you go to Monterey. How about the Monterey Fireside Lodge – fireplace, king bed, dog friendly, close to a beautiful park and only $139 a night.. We had a GREAT time.

  12. joan says:

We were pleasantly suprised when we found out that Phil’s in Moss Landing- has a dog- accomodating albeit utilitarian back patio where your dog can enter without going through the restaurant. It’s uncovered, so only works in good weather. Bring your own doggie water bowl… though . I wouldn’t call it dog-friendly, but more dog accomodating….. but the food is so good I didn’t mind the ugly atmosphere. A little pricey but oh, so good for fresh fish and seafood…

Shenandoah National Park at the Skyland. They have an outdoor seating area overlooking the nation forest. There are about 15 tables that are pet friendly. They do not have wait service out there but you can get your meal inside at the restaurant and eat there. My wife and I just recently did this and it was fantastic. Great view out over the national forest. We took a hike and then went to this area and had a fantasitc meal and it was made better having our dogs with us.

St Ignace Michigan – just over the Mackinac Bridge. I took my two dogs to Silver Sands Resort for a week. They welcome dogs, with a reservation, to their somewhat rustic cabins. The lakefront is a bit rocky, but just down the road is pristine Lake Michigan sandy beach that is dog friendly. My dogs had a ball! This place has no phone, no wi-fi and no fast food (perfect). Bring your own sheets and food; also they do not take credit cards, so leave your Visa at home. Friendly guests and absolutely quiet nights.

Canine Comforts is such a cute little shop in the Jack London Square area in Oakland, CA. It’s super convenient if you’re staying at one of the hotels down there. The Waterfront Hotel is a dog friendly hotel, and Canine Comforts is only about a 7 min walk from the hotel. There’s a dog that hangs out in the shop named “Josie” and she’s so sweet and adorable! I would highly recommend Canine Comforts for anyone in or around Oakland…also, there’s a super nice walking trail by the water which would be great for you and your dog(s).

In the fall we went to Eureka Springs, Arkansas. This was our dogs first vacation. We stayed at the 1886 Crescent Hotel. In the morning, Tuff and I would go down to the Lobby, have coffee and visit with other guests. They had a nice Garden to play in. Later we went down to the historic shopping district. Almost every store allowed Tuff inside to Shop. One shopkeeper even offered him water. I highly recommend Eureka Spring and the Crescent Hotel for a special “Dogcation”.

The BestBuy in Vacaville, CA allows dogs. I’m not sure if all locations do, but I would think so.

Athens, Ohio, is a very dog-friendly city. We have two off-leash dog parks: One at the end of West State Street at West State Street Park, and the other just off East State Street behind the Holiday Inn Express. We also have a 17-mile bike path (runs along the Hocking River) that’s great for dogwalking. There’s a great locally owned pet supply store, Friendly Paws Pet Supplies and Grooming. And many local events are dog-friendly, especially the Ohio PawPaw Festival held each September. Bring your dog to Athens!

  44. DogFriendly.com says:

From a Reader: We took our little dogs (2 @ 9 lbs ea) for a couple of weeks to Santa Fe and Taos. We all had a great time. My dogs were treated to a great time in both cities and on many of our scenic drives. I really, really appreciate this guide. Our favorites right now are the Alley Cantina in Taos and Milagros in Santa Fe. That most shop owners put a bowl of fresh, cool water out at their doors for the dogs was awesome and, of course, the restaurants always brought them a fresh bowl of water too. We stayed at Motel 6 in Espanola. Clean and very accommodating for our dogs, kudos to Ernie the manager. We would stay there again.
