San Antonio Texas is the state’s most popular tourist destination. And why not? It’s the city with the most history in the state. It is also beautiful. The Riverwalk is a not to be missed tourist site. The Alamo? Enough said. This territory was controlled by the Comanche Indians before Mission San Antonio de Valero was founded in 1718. This mission was converted into a military outpost named The Alamo. During the Texas Revolution the Alamo played a historic role. The center of modern San Antonio is the Riverwalk, in downtown. The historic sites are within a few blocks of the Riverwalk as are most of the large downtown hotels. Over the last ten years, San Antonio has grown more and more dog-friendly and is now a top dog-friendly destination in the nation.
