Cleveland was founded in 1796 by a speculator named Moses Cleaveland. It remained a small frontier town until 1832, when the Ohio and Erie Canal connected Cleveland to the Ohio River. This made Cleveland into a Great Lakes port city. It became a steel center in the late 1800s. Steel from Cleveland was used heavily in the auto industry out of nearby Detroit in the 1900s. Cleveland today has a lot of parkland, much of it dog-friendly. Cleveland has a number of top dog-friendly attractions to enjoy with your dog.
