United Kingdom: Dog-friendly breaks on the Isle of Wight

IT seems man’s best friend has now become our travelling companion.

According to a recent survey, the nation’s eight million pooches have become quite the seasoned travellers with nine out of 10 pet owners choosing to take their dog on holiday with them last year.

But it’s not always easy to find a destination that will welcome our four-legged friends.

Just a dog-friendly 45-minute ferry ride away, the Isle of Wight is becoming a hot spot for pet owners keen to find a holiday haven that can be enjoyed by both man and his dog. Continued at Get Hampshire

As the Solvang Visitor’s Bureau states, “Visiting Danes have described Solvang as ‘more like Denmark than Denmark’ – a remarkable tribute to the town’s passion for Danish architecture, cuisine and customs.” Solvang is a quaint shopping village and a great place to walk with your dog. Several stores along Mission Drive are dog-friendly like The Book Loft and Lemo’s Feed & Pet Supply (please always verify that stores are dog-friendly by asking the clerk before entering). There are also many dog-friendly restaurants in town including bakeries that have mouth watering goodies. Sunset Magazine recently voted Solvang as one of the ’10 Most Beautiful Small Towns’ in the Western United States.

England: Woodbridge Pub introduces menus for dogs

The King’s Head Pub in Woodbridge England introduced a menu for dogs in time for Christmas last year. As is often the case in Europe but not in North America, the dogs can dine inside with you and are not restricted to outdoor areas. The dog menu arose from the owner’s yellow labrador Sydney.
