This European style village is very dog-friendly. You can ride the Gondola in the summer with your dog, take in a pet boutique store Tails by the Lake, enjoy numerous outdoor restaurants with your pup and browse the various stores with your leashed dog. There is a miniature golf course sprinkled throughout the walkways where kids and adults can play mini-golf with your dog along for the fun. And throughout the summer there are events such as music festivals and outdoor movies on a large screen where you and your dog are welcome for most events. The village is located at Squaw Valley USA just off Highway 89 between Tahoe City and Truckee in the north Tahoe area.

This upscale outdoor mall opened in October, 2006. It was the first new mall opened in the San Diego area in 20 years. It is pet-friendly and it even has a dog park on the premises next to the Macy’s. Many stores allow dogs inside but you will need to ask first. There are poop bags available at the mall and many stores have water dishes for dogs. There is also a vet located at the mall. To get to the mall and dog park from San Diego go south on the 805 Freeway to the Orange Avenue Exit. Head east on Orange Avenue which will become Olympic Parkway. Go 4 miles east to the mall.

Historic buildings/vehicles, museums, mini golf, mining and maritime exhibits, a 35 cabin “stampede era” gold rush town, a narrow gauge train, gathering centers, concessionaires, daily and annual activities, an RV parking area, and much more are to be found at this 44 acre historically themed park. The park is open all year; however, concessionaires are only on site from Memorial Day until September 3. The visitor center is just inside the main gate where park information and RV registration can be obtained. Dogs are allowed throughout the park except in food service areas and in some of the buildings. Dogs must be under their owner’s control, leashed, and cleaned up after at all times. Doggy stations are provided.
