Comments:The second annual Dachshund Dash is El Dorados premier wiener dog race. The race starts at 11 a.m. and a pre-race parade will be held at 10:30 a.m. Participants are encouraged to dress their pets for the parade. Entry fee for the race is $10 per dog and proof of current vaccinations must be provided with registration. The deadline to enter is Wednesday, September 14. The Lighter Side of Dickson is partnering with the Fayetteville Visitors Bureau and Dickson Street merchants to present a fun-filled day with the pooches on August 15th.Dog Party USA will have fun events including an obstacle course and swim area. We are also featuring Dickson's dog friendly businesses, and providing coupons and goodies from local establishments. Dog-friendly establishments will be providing treats for the dogs and specials for their humans all afternoon.

Comments:This year PHAR is playing Easter Bunny for our four legged friends. Dust off those bunny ears (both yours and your dog's!) and bring your Easter basket to collect eggs filled with dog treats and prizes! (Yes, dogs will be the ones expected to find the eggs!) Easter Egg Hunt for Your Pooch, Costume Contest, White Elephant Auction, cold drinks and lots of fun for everyone all included!

Dogs are encouraged to dress in their Easter Finest to strut and wiggle their tails for the Costume Contest. A prize will be awarded to the canine wearing the best designed outfit. The cats haughtily declined to be judges, so humans will have to suffice. Easter photos for pets and people will be available. Egg hunters should bring their own basket or sack to collect the eggs.

This charity event takes place on Saturday, March 15th, at Ben Geren Park. The park is located on Zero Street in Fort Smith, South of the airport. Registration is $ 10 per dog and starts at 12:30 P.M.
All dogs are welcome to join in the fun; the only requirements being dogs must possess an up-to-date Rabies tag/certificate and not be aggressive. Pooches taking part in the event must be kept on a leash, and owners must stay with their dogs at all times. Canine water stations and scooping bags will be provided.

PHAR is an all volunteer-based animal rescue organization based in Fort Smith, AR and 100 percent of all proceeds from this event will be poured directly back into the community by helping homeless animals.

Early race/walk registration is $20/individual, $36/family (limit 4). Please, no pets for the 5K. In honor of Armed Forces Day, individual race/walk registration is free to all active-duty military personnel. ?Virtual Runner? contributors will receive a complimentary T-shirt. During the extraordinary week, animal shelters, rescue groups, wildlife centers, educational agencies and humane organizations across the entire state will be hosting wonderful animal-related special events that will be saving lives, building relationships, helping animals and strengthening communities throughout the state. Educators, students, businesses and caring citizens across the state will be joining in to celebrate animals. Events will include adoption events across the state, low cost spay/neuter events, R.E.A.D. dog programs in libraries, blessings of the animals, children?s book donations, horse events, pet food donations, wildlife camps, art activities, zoo educational/meet caretakers presentations, donation drives, and therapy animals visiting schools, hospitals and living-assisted homes. Also to be included are a salute to our working K-9 and handlers, educational events, and fun-filled festivals for families to enjoy friendship, food, music on behalf of the always amazing animals.
