Due to our own concerns with efficient, detailed, and thorough training available readily everywhere, we determined through surveys, that the need for training in order to increase the availability of quality teachers, to teach the fast growing world of Canine Freestyle, is epidemic! Each individual on this committee, is driven by a desire to share the vision of freestyle! Each workshop, will have new committee members, as it was decided in the beginning, that the freestyle world will benefit from a diverse, and dedicated team of freestylers, of all levels, who understand the quest for information!
The level of experience of those responding to the survey, indicated that many teachers feel inadequate, in teaching skills, while being competent in freestyle skills. There is a huge demand for classes, and not enough teachers, in many areas, to give those classes.
K9DanceSport Education and Resources was born! The mission, to provide quality training, worldwide, through combinations of presenters, and venues, has begun! The inaugural workshop, in Phoenix, Arizona, May 6 & 7 is rapidly approaching! This is the first, the one that sets the standard! The future of this group, will be additional workshops, with various presenters, and numbers of presenters, in various locations. Families, neighbors, and community members are encouraged to register for the Walk-A-Hound, Lose-A-Pound event to be held on October 3, 2009. Walk? dog walk fundraiser on Sunday, October 15th at Reid Park from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. All well-behaved dogs and their owners are invited to pre-register for the event, which is sponsored in part by Animal Birth Control of Tucson and Canyon Community Bank, and celebrate FAIR?s 10th year of rescuing animals and providing pet-related community services.
In addition to the distance-optional dog walk in the park, there will be contests, fundraising prizes, pet blessings, a pet psychic, pet caricatures, rescue groups, pet-related vendors and food. Comments:The Arizona Animal Fair (AAF) is an annual festival attended by over 8,000 people and their pets. It is the largest event of its kind in Arizona and one of the largest in the entire Southwest!
The fair features six arenas of non-stop demonstrations, such as professional frisbee teams, flyball, agility, weight pulling, doggie dancing, police K-9 units, as well as search and rescue dogs.
More than 100 exhibitor booths provide the opportunity to shop and try the latest pet products, as well as learn from industry and pet rescue experts...there will be plenty of great animals available for adoption as well!
This important community event benefits the entire Tucson community. AAF encourages community collaboration and cooperation among nonprofit animal rescue and welfare agencies. It also advances community health and welfare interests and actively supports the reduction of animal euthanasia through education, adoption and microchipping. Animal rescue and welfare organizations are readily able to network with each other and to identify agencies previously unknown to them. In the unique format of the Arizona Animal Fair, ideas are shared and explored, which may lead to innovative strategies for addressing the euthanasia problem. All proceeds are returned to the animal rescue community.

HOPE Animal Shelter came into existence almost 2 years ago and was operating out of Bernarda Veterinary Hospital. "We are so excited to finally have a place to call home," says Susan Scherl, the Director of Operations of HOPE Animal Shelter and one of its founders. "Now we are looking to raise additional funds for the final construction of our facilities."
"To get to the point where we can finally make a difference and help reduce the practice of euthanasia in Tucson is just incredible," says Dr. Kayomee Daroowalla, owner of Bernarda Veterinary Hospital and a co-founder of HOPE Animal Shelter.
While there are other no-kill cat shelters in Tucson HOPE is the only one that cares for dogs as well. There are currently over 100 adoptable companion animals being cared for at the shelter and in foster homes.
So, stop by after work and come dally with the dogs and cuddle with the cats. Take a chance and buy a raffle ticket to support the shelter. Finger food and soft drinks will be served.

There is a $5 use fee per vehicle in the Coronado National Forest.
