Here's the scoop: your pet can receive an identity microchip for the special price of $25. Keep in mind that microchipping costs about $40-$50 at most veterinary offices. That's the "Chip"- now Rufus needs a "Dip". Have our experts clean your puppy for just $10 while you visit the wide variety of vendors, vets and service providers participating in our informational fair. All that chipping and dipping could make you hungry and thirsty, so visit our Giving Grill and Lemonade Stand to enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers, vegetarian offerings and much, much more. Comments:Pets are an important part of our lives and the Baltimore Animal Rescue & Care Shelter (BARCS) wants to celebrate that special relationship and raise money for local homeless animals at the 3rd Annual BARCStoberfest.
The event, sponsored by Baltimore City Mayor Sheila Dixon, will be held from 11am to 4pm on Saturday Oct. 27, 2007 in Patterson Park (corner of Eastern and Linwood).
"This is a festival specifically geared to you and your pet, with lots of activities, entertainment and information," said Jennifer Mead, BARCS' Executive Director.
From a low-cost microchip clinic, to a Scavenger Hunt and Silly Agility Course (for the dogs of course), you and Rover will have a blast. The event also features children activities, a silent auction, a raffle, and several pet contests. Local food and pet-related vendors will also be on hand, as well as experts in animal health and wellness.
BARCStoberfest isn't just about spending time with your pet. It's about showing him or her off! The popular Pet Costume Contest is back, right in time for Halloween. Other featured contests include Best Trick and Pet/Owner Look-a-Like.
Thousands of people and their pets attended BARCStoberfest over the past two years, raising $26,000 for BARCS' efforts to protect animals through adoption, education, and the promotion of responsible pet ownership. Mead anticipates the turnout to be even stronger this year. Pets on leashes and in carriers are welcome.
For those looking for a new furry friend, plenty of adoptable animals with be available on-site, including animals from BARCS, as well as pure-breeds from area rescue groups.
All proceeds from this event benefit the animals of BARCS.

Comments:Partnership Wealth Management, LLC is proud to sponsor its 4th Annual Paws for a Cause Charity Night & Silent Auction, which will be held on Tuesday, September 22nd at the Red Star Bar & Grill in Fells Point, MD. All silent auction proceeds will benefit Arden?s Arc and Karma Dogs.A few years ago, Woody Derricks began a non-profit organization called Paws for a Cause, Inc. Each year, a fundraiser is held to benefit one or two local animal welfare groups. Over the past three years, Paws for a Cause has raised more than $20,000 to benefit the Baltimore Humane Society, Recycled Love, and the Canton Dog Park. The approach to the event is to find projects that local animal organizations need funded. It is believed that having a monetary goal tied to a specific project helps loosen the wallets of those in attendance.About this year?s beneficiaries - Arden?s Arc is a non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing homeless, neglected, or otherwise abused dogs and cats and placing them in loving forever homes. In 2008, they expanded their mission to include reducing the feral cat population. Arden?s Arc also actively educates the public about humane animal treatment and the importance of preventative medical care, spay/neuter and pets wearing proper identification (www.ArdensArc.petfinder.com).Karma Dogs (recently in the news) is a non-profit organization that just launched a new program called The Oath of Kindness. This program was developed in response to the recent violence against animals in Baltimore. The idea is simple. Children take an Oath of Kindness with a Karma Dog, where they promise to be kind, tell their friends to be kind and tell an adult if someone isn?t treating an animal properly (www.karmadogs.org).For more information on this event, please contact Woody Derricks, 410-732-2633 or visit www.paws4cause.org. The event will cost $10 per person and reservations are required.

Comments:Come to Dogtopia on Sunday, July 13th, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m and treat your dog to a mid-summer bath in support of military dogs stationed in Iraq. Fun, food, games and prizes for everyone - furry and not! Since 4th of July, 2005, Dogtopia and K-9 Support, Inc. have raised money, created awareness and collected donations for our brave military dogs and their handlers stationed overseas. We have been overwhelmed by the enormous local and international support we have generated through this campaign and we hope many folks will come out for the dog wash. You can get your dog bathed while having a great time supporting a worthy cause. In order to continue the momentum of the campaign, a $10 donation is suggested per wash. While Dogtopia is grateful for all the support it has received, it kindly requests that donors who wish to participate in the campaign contribute money in lieu of toys and treats. With our bulk purchasing ability your dollar will go much further with us and also help defer shipping costs. 100% of proceeds collected will go towards care packages for the handlers and their dogs. Since last Fourth of July, Happy Tails Dog Spa? and K-9 Support, Inc. have been raising money, creating awareness and collecting donations for our brave military dogs and their handlers stationed overseas. We have been overwhelmed by the enormous local and international support we have generated through this campaign and we hope many folks will come out for the dog wash. Get your dog bathed while having a great time and support a worthy cause. In order to continue the momentum of the campaign, a $10 donation is suggested per wash. While Happy Tails is grateful for all the support it has received, it kindly requests that donors who wish to participate in the campaign contribute money in lieu of toys and treats. Proceeds collected will go towards care packages for the handlers and their dogs.
