"Alexandria is well known for being a dog-friendly city," said Jessica Taverna, President, All 4 the Animals Rescue, "What better place to celebrate the love of dogs! We have numerous dogs in search of their forever homes, and I have faith that many of our dogs' future families are right here in Alexandria." Activities scheduled for the day include: * "Smooches from Pooches" contest - dog lover and former Alexandria City Manager Vola Lawson, along with Jack, her pride and joy Jack Russell Terrier, will be the judge of which dog gives the best kisses and present the grand prize. * Silent Auction - Items include: stays at Alexandria hotels, hand-blown glass art, dog items from Jake's of Old Town, cruises from the Potomac Riverboat Company, a dog gift basket from Olde Towne School for Dogs, and much more; * Fun for the whole family with caramel apple dipping and pumpkin painting booths for the children and bobbing for tennis balls games for the dogs, and * "Puppy Training 101" and "How to be the Alpha" training demonstrations from local dog trainers. Other participants include: Barkley Square Dog Bakery and Boutique, Tails of Olde Towne canine massage, the Alexandria Chapter of the American Red Cross, Karing by Kristina, Dogtopia, I Believe in Dog and more. We comply with all State and Loudoun County Animal Care and Control ordinances.
All dogs will be current on Rabies vaccination as required by VA state law. Proof will be in the form of a valid tag or certificate, which must be available for inspection. All dogs will be on a 6-foot or shorter leash at all times. (NO retractable leads -Flexis-). Owners/handlers will pick up after their dogs (as per Loudoun Co. ordinance (612.19). Owners/handlers will sign a waiver at the entrance gate. This holds PCF and all persons associated with PCF harmless for any damage/harm to the dog, and holds PCF harmless in the event the dog injures anyone. There will be a $4.00 admission fee per dog. PCF, as represented by a Board member or site manager, reserves the right to evict or have evicted any dog that management deems to be dangerous or annoying to patrons or staff. This decision is final and not subject to discussion.
