The joining of this park with Montana's Glacier National Park in 1932, creating the Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park, was a 1st in the world. The diverse ecological regions of the park support an amazing variety of species of plant and wildlife. It also offers a wide range of recreation, educational opportunities, seasonal Heritage Interpretation Programs, biological resources, and a rich cultural and natural history. A high point of the park's chain of crystal clear lakes is the deepest lake in the Canadian Rockies - the Upper Waterton Lake. Dogs are allowed throughout the park for no additional fee. They must be kept leashed at all times, cleaned up after, and brought in at night. Dogs may not be left outside unattended and they state to exercise caution when exercising your pet. Mule Deer can seriously harm or kill a dog and they say to leave the area immediately if any are seen.
