Located in a majestic setting along the shores of the Lynn Canal (the longest, deepest fjord in N America), Haines is home to a number of historic sites including the Fort Seward Army Post-the states 1st, the historic buildings of the Gold Rush era, and a rich cultural history. Self-guided tour maps can be obtained at the visitor center or the hotels. Your pooch is welcome to join you throughout the area; they are not allowed in buildings. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.
