With its free, hot breakfast buffet, evening manager's reception and perks, the non-smoking Residence Inn by Marriott Durango is a our favorite because it makes guests feel right at home. The three-story hotel is designed for the extended-stay guest. Each of the 66 rooms has a full kitchen that includes a refrigerator, stovetop, microwave and dishwasher, as well as cooking utensils and dinnerware. Sofa beds and premium cable TV with free HBO are standard in all rooms. The hotel offers a complimentary manager's reception on weekday evenings, which brings guests together over light fare, beer and wine. A full, hot buffet breakfast is served daily. Dining in the picnic area, which has barbecue grills, is an option in warmer months, as is a game of hoops on the sports court. You can always treat yourself to a swim in the heated indoor pool or a soak in the hot tub. The hotel also has a coin laundry and a business center. Pets are permitted for an additional fee. The Residence Inn is three miles from the Hillcrest Golf Club and five miles from Fort Lewis College, the San Juan National Forest and Sky Ute Casino. It's 20 miles to Durango Mountain Resort and 36 miles to the Aztec Ruin National Monument.
