Free guided tours are offered of this illustrious building composed of Colorado white granite with large pillars that is reminiscent of the White House, a gold leaf dome that adorns the top, stained glass windows, and many more special features. The beautifully manicured gardens and lawns that surround the Capitol building feature several memorial statues and dedications. The Colorado State Capitol is open to the public Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Your pet is welcome to explore the grounds with you, but they are not usually allowed inside unless they are very small and carried only. Dogs must be friendly, leashed, and cleaned up after quickly. Disposal bags are not supplied, so please bring your own bags.
