A 10-minute walk from the White House, the historic Crowne Plaza Hamilton wins points for location. A free morning paper delivered right to your door is one example of the personal service that our guests talk about. The Beaux Arts building's elegant entrance beneath a fan-shaped window leads into a spacious lobby with a barrel-vault ceiling studded with golden medallions. Elevators whisk you up to the 318 rooms spread over 14 floors. Unique to the hotel is one floor reserved for women traveling alone or in groups. The decor hints at the hotel's history, especially the regal headboards on the cloud-soft pillowtop beds. Up-to-date amenities include 37-inch flat-panel TVs and Wi-Fi (for a fee). There's a well-regarded restaurant and bar downstairs and many more in the neighborhood. One nice touch is the hotel's gym, with both weights and cardio machines. D.C.'s lightning-fast Metro system is the best way to get around town, and the McPherson station is just a block away. From there you can reach the Smithsonian station, in the middle of the National Mall and its museums and galleries, in five minutes. From the hotel, the National Museum of Women in the Arts is three blocks away, as is leafy Lafayette Square. The White House is just a block beyond that. If you need to get to or from Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, about five miles away, avoid the stop-and-go traffic by hopping aboard the Metro. You'll feel like a V.I.P. when you walk into this hotel, thanks to the responsive staff and the deluxe decor. The walk-to-everything location doesn't hurt, either.
