Part of a long chain of barrier islands, this park is accessible only by ferry or private boat, and are favored by both recreationalists and naturalists. There are interpretive exhibits and trails that lead visitors through almost a dozen distinct natural communities. Well mannered dogs are allowed throughout the park; they are not allowed on the beach. Dogs must be kept on no more than a 6 foot hand held leash at all times; they may not be left unattended. Dogs are not allowed in park buildings or at the playground. Note: Although the ferry by Grande Tours normally does not take dogs on regular boat trips, they will allow passage of pets to the park.
