Expressing the theme of redemption and taking 42 years to complete once the materials had been collected the Grotto features 9 separate sites detailing a scene in the life of Jesus of Nazareth. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is the life's work of the Catholic priest, Fr. Paul Dobberstein. The work is done in stone for permanence and contains more precious stones and gems than in any other known location. Dogs are allowed on site; they are not allowed in buildings (unless carried) or at the café.
