Established by Daniel Boone as the state's 2nd settlement, this is a true working pioneer fort where many resident craftspersons help give visitors a glimpse of what early settlement life was like. There is also a self guided interpretive trail showcasing native plants, and prehistoric, geological, and historic sites. Dogs are allowed in the park and campground; they are not allowed in the fort. Dogs must be leashed and cleaned up after.
