As a transitional zone from tall-grass prairie to forest, this 30,700 acre refuge has a diverse biological environment that supports a wide variety of birds, marines, and wildlife. There are oak savannas, 23 restored wetlands, and continuous ongoing restoration. Dogs are allowed on the trails and the 7.3 mile auto tour. They must be leashed and under their owner's control at all times.
