From April 1860 to October 1861, riders would travel the 2000 miles from St Joseph, Missouri to Sacramento, California to deliver the mail; this site preserves and passes on the heritage and dedication of these riders. Dogs are allowed on the grounds, and if the museum is not with a group or busy, well behaved pooches may go inside. Dogs must be leashed and under their owner's control at all times.
