The protective symbol of the turtle blazes this linear, non-motorized sustainable trail, that, through voluntary and public efforts, it is maintained for all to enjoy. It runs 97 miles beginning at the US Forest Service CCC Campground in McKenzie County, 20 miles south of Watford City off Highway 85, and ends south of Medora at Sully State Creek State Park. There are 4 campsite areas along the trail with potable water, vault toilets and campfire rings. Bike riders will need to start at the Summit as there are areas that are impassible from the CCC camp area. Dogs are allowed on the trail; they must be leashed unless they are very well trained for voice control.
