Black Elk/Neihardt Park
Black Elk/Neihardt Park College Drive Blair, Nebraska
68008 402-533-4455 Map
This serene 80 acre park is home to a memorial for John Neihardt (a Nebraskan Poet Laureate who also wrote the book Black Elk Speaks) and the Lakota Sioux Indian Chief Black Elk. A 44 foot tower with a beautiful mosaic describes Black Elk's hope for unity and peace and 4 smaller mosaics along the paved walking trail tell further of his vision for all people. The park also has a disc golf course, a wood chip trail, picnic sites, and a playground. Dogs are allowed; they must be leashed and cleaned up after.
