When want to get around town without driving, there are numerous taxi cabs. A typical New York yellow taxi cab is supposed to pick up people with pets, however, they don't always stop if you have a pooch. Don't feel too bad, many NY cabs don't stop even for people without pets! However, with a little advance planning, you can reserve the Pet Taxi. The Pet Taxi makes runs to the vet, groomer and other pet related stuff. But they are also rented to transport you and your pooch to a park, outdoor restaurant, across town, etc. For example, if you are at a hotel near Central Park but would like to go to Little Italy and Chinatown for half a day, they will take you to your destination and then several hours later, they will pick you up and take you back to your hotel. Just be sure to reserve the Pet Taxi at least one day in advance during the weekdays. If you need the taxi on Saturday or Sunday, book your reservation by Thursday or Friday. They are open from 8am-7pm during the weekday and by reservation on the weekends. They can be reserved for $35 per hour or $25 each way for a pick up or drop off. Pet Taxi serves the Manhattan area.
