This park has two creeks, Big and Little Darby Creeks, which are called one of the 12 "Last Great Places" in the Western Hemisphere by the Nature Conservancy. Both rivers are also designated State and National Scenic Rivers. The rivers arehome to several species of fish and freshwater mussels, some of which are listed as endangered or threatened. While much of the land in this area has been converted to farmland, the park management has been able to restore several praires within the park. Pets are allowed at the park but not on the trails except for the designated 1.6 mile Pet Trail. Pets must be on leash, under control and cleaned up after. To get to the Pet Trail, go to the parking lot on the east side of Georgesville-Wrightsville Road. It is adjacent to a praire site.
