This wildlife drive-thru park allows dogs to accompany you inside your car as you drive to view the animals. You and your pet must remain in your car once you are inside the wildlife park and all of the windows must stay closed. The park offers a variety of North American wildlife including black bears, grizzly bears, mountain lions, wolves, elk, big horn sheep, buffalo and more. Pets are also allowed at the outdoor picnic tables near the snack bar which is located at the end of the wildlife drive-thru. Pets are not allowed inside buildings including the gift shop, and they are also not allowed in the walk-around area where you can view and pet other types of animals. Bear Country is located on Highway 16, south of Rapid City, heading towards Mt. Rushmore. Well-behaved leashed pets are welcome.
