Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail
Lewis and Clark National Historic Trail 900 Governor's Drive (SD Cultural Heritage Center) Pierre, South Dakota
57501 605-773-3458 Map
The Pierre area was one of the stops on Lewis and Clark's 3700 mile expedition when it was just a budding frontier trading post. Now a small town of almost 14000, Pierre is the county seat as well at the state capitol, and it has a long, rich natural and cultural history to share. Dogs are allowed around town and on the trail; they must be leashed and under their owner's control at all times.
