Visitors can experience a diversity of landscapes here. There are over 1,500 miles of trails, 32 campgrounds, hundreds of miles of streams, and an abundance of flora, fauna, recreation, and educational opportunities. Dogs are allowed in the forest; they must be leashed in all public and some wilderness areas. They should not be off lead in other areas unless well trained because of wildlife. Dogs must be under their owner's control at all times.
