This national forest offers over 1200 miles of trails for you and your pooch to enjoy. You can take a short hike or take a week-long backpacking trip. There are many trails near Jackson and Buffalo. Here are two trails located near Jackson. The first is Cache Creek Trail which is about 6 miles long and follows the creek. It is a popular trail and offers good views of the town and surrounding area. You might spot wildlife like moose, deer, elk and more during the summertime. This hike has a gentle grade which makes it a good trail for the entire family. To get there from the town square, travel east on Broadway to Redmond Street. Follow Redmond to Cache Creek Drive then follow Cache Creek Drive to parking lot. Another trail is the Black Canyon Overlook/Pass Ridge Trail. This trail is rated moderate and is about 2 miles long. The trail follows the ridge and travels through meadows and forest, with views of Jackson Hole and the surrounding mountains. To get there from Jackson, follow Highway 22 West to the summit of Teton Pass. Park at the top of Teton Pass on the left. The trailhead is well marked on the south side of the road at the parking area.
