Located in the Lassen National Forest, this self-guided interpretive trails runs about 1.5 miles and it details the volcanic activities here and how life adapted to it; 3 of the 4 types of volcanoes in the world are seen along this trail. The trail is open and in the summer is quite hot; it's important to bring water for hound and human, and maybe even some paw protectors for the pooch. The trailhead parking lot is located at the Sanitary Dump Station on Highway 89 in Old Station. Dogs must be kept leashed unless under strict voice control.
