Special thanks to one of our readers for the info on this great dog-friendly park. This 296-acre park includes an 80-acre lake. Dogs must be on leash in the parking areas, picnic areas, lawns and developed areas. Your dog can run off-leash in other areas and trails, just make sure they are under voice control and you must carry a leash. Your dog should be under voice control around bicyclists and equestrians - this has been the biggest area of conflict for unleashed dogs. Dogs are not allowed at swimming pools or swim beaches. But you should be able to find a non-swim beach where your dog can play and swim in the water. To get there, from I-580 take the Santa Rita Road south, turn left onto Valley Ave, then left onto Stanley Blvd. Turn right off Stanley into the park. There is a minimal entrance fee.
