This is a very nice natural park with over 6 miles (12 round trip) of walking, running or mountain biking trails. There are nine entry points into the park, but we recommend you start at the Visitors and Nature Center where you can pick up a trail map from the ranger. If you start at the Nature Center, most of the trail (first five miles) is relatively flat. It gets steeper in the last mile and there could be some creek crossings. From the Nature Center, follow the path which will take you past a golf course. At the end of the golf course, you'll need to take Snead Ave which will join up with the rest of the path. There might be a few more street crossings, but the majority of the walk is on the dirt trail. With the all the natural surroundings it seems like it is far from the city, but it's located only 6-7 miles from downtown. To get there, take Tecolote Road until it ends. Dogs must be on leash in the park.
