This trail (1-2 miles each way) is located next to the village of Mendocino and it follows the Mendocino peninsula and coastline on bluffs above the beach. The trail is part of the Mendocino Headlands State Park. To get there, take Hwy 1, exit Main Street/Jackson toward the coastline. When Main Street ends, turn right onto Hesser Drive. Go 4 blocks and turn left to continue on Hesser Drive. There are many trailheads or starting points along Hesser Drive, but in the summer, watch out for foxtails.
