In these cemeteries lay some of the founders and first settlers of Virginia City, the gold rush and the region. One such celebrity is Captain Edward Farris Storey, after whom Storey County Nevada was named. Captain Storey was a casualty of the 1860 Pyramid Lake Indian War. The cemetery is open for viewing from dawn to dusk daily. Dogs on leash are allowed. You must be certain to clean up after your dog.
