Here’s your chance to win a $500,000 dog park makeover

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

Pet ownership is at an all-time high, and as the number of owned dogs in the U.S. continues to rise, so too does the need for community dog parks. Not only do dog parks give canines a chance to exercise, socialize and explore, but they also enhance the human-dog bond by providing a special spot to enjoy life’s everyday adventures (after all, there’s only so much fun to be had in one’s backyard…).

To celebrate these relationships, Beneful has once again launched its Dream Dog Park Contest and is inviting all dog owners to enter now through June 21 by submitting a 250-word essay answering the question: If you had $500,000 to create the ultimate dream dog park for you and your best buddy, what would you do? Entrants must also include a photo showing how life is better with their four-legged friend.

The Beneful Dream Team, led by design expert and television host Jason Cameron, will help select the Grand Prize Winner and bring their idea to life with a $500,000 transformation of a dog park in their area. Additionally, the Grand Prize Winner will receive $10,000 and a year’s supply of Beneful dog food. For more information, visit

If interested, I can coordinate an interview with Cameron, who can speak to tips for creating a dream dog park and how he brought last year’s winning idea to life through a renovation of an Atlanta dog park. Arden Moore, pet expert and contest judge, is also available and can speak to the value dog parks bring to dogs, owners and entire communities. Pasted below is a full press release, and additional press materials can be found here: Please let me know if this contest, which has launched in the midst of National Pet Month, is of interest to you.

Ashland OR: A group works to improve this non dog-friendly city

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

We received this email regarding Ashland OR. For our page, see this link.

Hi, just wanted to give you a heads up. We are acutely aware of the lack of facilities and amenities offered for dogs in Ashland, Oregon. And, with your “challenge,” we’ve organized a group intended to reverse that perception/reality: ASHLAND LOVES DOGS. Our 1st efforts include collaborating the local Parks & Rec Department to open up Ashland parks to leashed dogs and to encourage a 2nd dog park for unleashed dogs. It’s a 1st step, but we’re dedicated.
We will keep you posted. Thank you for your interest.
