Minnesota: Gunflint Lodge Offers Packages for Dog and Wilderness Lovers

For dog owners, going on vacation without your pet can be frustrating and you end up missing your dog, knowing they’d rather be with you than at the kennel. Gunflint Lodge in Grand Marais, Minnesota, offers the perfect vacation solution for dog lovers: the Woofta Uffta and Waggalot Weekend Vacation Packages.

“For folks who love the great outdoors and want to share their vacation with their dog, our Dog Lover’s Weekends in July, August, September and October are ideal,” says Bruce Kerfoot, second generation owner of Gunflint Lodge. “Dogs are the feature of the weekend. We invite specialists to join us in presenting seminars and training activities on dog massages, training, communications, and pet health. Plus we have K-9 Olympics, dog socials, and more.

Our naturalists plan several activities in the woods which complement the social activities around the lodge. In addition, guests have some free time for hiking, canoeing and exploring.”

Kerfoot adds that at Gunflint, they take care of all the details. Gunflint’s packages include accommodations and meals, and every day is filled with outdoor fun and activities.

The Woofta Uffta and Waggalot Weekend packages all include three night’s accommodations, all meals, all dog activities including treats, canoe rentals and naturalist activities.

The packages are $396 per person in a Classic Cabin for three nights or $486 per person in a Lake Home or Romantic Cabin for three nights. Pet fees are waived for Dog Lover’s Weekends. Sales tax and service charge are additional.

Woofta Uffta Weekends are on July 1-4, 2011, August 25-28, 2011, and September 15-18, 2011. The Waggalot Weekend on October 13-16, 2011 is Gunflint’s premier featured dog weekend with more speakers and specialists to present talks and seminars. One class is all about baking homemade dog treats, and other classes offered are presented by dog handlers, vets and more.
