This restaurant opened in San Diego, Mission Valley area about 2 months ago, the latest of 11 similar restaurants in southern California. They live up to their name and have an outside patio area that is dog friendly. There’s some beautiful architecture here and a wide range of wine, beer and spirits. They’re next door to Gordon Biersch and near BevMo, Trader Joe’s and Ulta.

Captain Jefferds Inn in Kennebunkport ME should be added… they are GREAT

  7. Stayed at Vines RV Resort in Paso Robles, CA. It was a very nice RV Park and they treated our dogs the way they should be treated. The owners love dogs and have a few themselves. They actually had their dogs with them and we let our dogs play in their “large dog” dog park.

My husband and I recently visited Harpers Ferry West Virginia. There are many websites that say there are no dog friendly eating places here, but we found that was not true. The Coffee Mill which sells icecreams, plates, sandwiches, etc has an outdoor patio which is dog friendly. It is even listed dog friendly on their outside chalkboard. There is access from the street behind which leads directly onto their patio, where we sat with our dog. We were also told, by a park ranger, that the Cannonball deli was dog friendly.
We did see that they had an outdoor area, but we did not confirm this with them. Overall harpers ferry is very dog friendly. Our dog walked all over with us and happily waded in the water.

  9. Jeff Schimpff says:

There are many dog-friendly cross country ski trails in North America. Generally these constitute only a limited portion of the total trails in an area, but many are very nice for skiing with your dog.

A few of these that we have taken our dog to include Crested Butte Nordic Center in Colorado; Galena Trails north of Sun Valley, Idaho; the Noquemenon Trail System near Marquette, Michigan; and a portion of Governor Nelson State Park north of Madison, WI.

Under most snow conditions, running on the snow seems to present no problems for most breeds of dogs.

Ketchum, Idaho is a dog friendly place, located next to the world famous Sun Valley ski and summer resort. Many businesses provide water bowls and the majority of locals are owned by their canine friends. Dogs are allowed off-lead on the over 30 miles of paved walking/ bike path, with some doggie bag stations and water. Dogs are allowed off lead in the local forests, with three rivers to play in…the Big Wood river, Trail Creek, and Warm Springs creek.
Dogs often accompany their people to the numerous free summer outdoor concerts. There are many excellent veterinary hospitals and a no-kill animal shelter: (Animal shelter of the Wood River Valley).

My dog loves to come, mention beach and he is ready. Your dog is almost always welcome here. Well behaved of course.

    From a reader:
how anyone could consider silver city, nm dog friendly is beyond my grasp. even the simple act of walking a dog without restraint on your private acreage being illegal, and ownership of more than two dogs of any size requiring a kennel license with concrete and chain link enclosures for full time enclosure, it seems less than friendly to dogs, and more like “dogschwitz”.

  21. C.A.S. says:

We are residents of North Port, Florida. We have taken our furry dog son to Venice Doggy Beach. We were walking down the walkway and were very dissapointed of the public. They let their dogs, mostly big dogs, letting them poop right on the walkway right near bags that the state provides for us for free. Also saw people throwing the bag with poop in it and throw into the woods. These feces are going into the ground and eventually either ends up in the ocean, or into our water systems that you are drinking. The water faucet up by the picnic tables had dog feces all aroung it. the water was brown in the bowl. dogs are digging holes right by the bowl and there was floating feces in it as well as all over ground everywhere. It was disgusting. Then we get down to the beach, people just letting their dogs poop anywhere without picking up. Do you people know how sick you are going to make people never mind your animals. Last time we went there it wasn’t as bad. This time we were grossed out. How people can be so lazy and inconsiderate especially it is such a safe and nice walkway to the water for our animals you could be alittle more considerate of other people and their dogs. There are doggie bags and trash barrels available so you do not have to throw in the woods or take home in your hot car.

  26. Heather says:

Fort Myers Beach in the South Western part of Florida is extremely dog friendly. You can take your dog on any part of the beach as long as you have her on a leash. They also have several places on the beach that you can get doggy potty bags. (& trashcans too) That makes it super easy to clean up after your dog. Even if you forget your potty bag. So there is no excuse for anyone that doesn’t pick up after their dogs. I didn’t see any doggy poop on the beach the whole time I was there.

There is a wonderful dog friendly dog boutique in Sugar Loaf, NY called Scarlet’s Way “A Dog’s World”. They have a beautiful store with tons of hi end USA made products similar to a store you would see in in NYC. They also have a beautiful courtyard with tons of seating for people and dogs. The courtyard also has an endless supply of fresh water for our dogs. All of this in a nice little village about 50 min north east of Manhattan.

  37. Ce says:

There is a Dairy Queen in Centerville, TX ( about halfway between Dallas and Houston) that has an outdoor, fenced space for doggies to “doo their business”. As a rescue transporter, I am always looking for a safe place for dogs to walk. Any dog can slip their leash and this fenced spot just adds an extra safety net for you and your dog. Please bring your own doggie bags though.

    Paula’s Beachside Grill
    (904) 471-3463
    6896 A1A Beach Blvd. – St Augustine, FL 32080
    Crescent BEACH

My Dog Was Served Before We Were…. which on a very warm Labor Day was just perfect! To begin with, finding a place that’s furry friendly isn’t all that easy, but the outdoor patio with the brightly colored umbrellas beckoned to us that maybe we’d get to have lunch w/out having to go the ‘take out’ route. We did and it was great.

Paul’s Beachside Grill falls into the “IIWII” (It Is What It Is) category of places. It is a beachside bastion of friendly service, cold beer, good food, and yes, it’s dog friendly. It’s not pretentious, or trying to be more than — ‘what it is!’ It’s basic and fun and interesting and the food was fast and good. You can of course sit inside if you are the less fortunate and don’t travel with a dog. It seemed to be nice too.

If Jimmy Buffet is cruisin’ down A1A…this is the kind of place he’d stop for a burger, a cold one, and some good company…

Stayed at Courtyard by Marriot in Marlborough MA this summer and was very happy with the way my dog was treated. They had treats, poopy bags and were overall excellent. Left the dog alone 1 PM while we went to dinner and they took my phone number and told me they would call if she started barking or was upset. Their pet friendly rooms were on the first floor as were the hearing impaired rooms. Perfect setup. The only downside was there was very little grass to walk the dog. Would definately recommend this hotel.

  48. kathy merk says:

We stayed at the Travel Lodge in Sturbridge MA back in May and had a wonderful experience. They are changing their name to Comfort Inn sometime soon if they haven’t already. Welcomed my Min Pin with treats, inquired about her name, etc. Plenty of grass to walk her on. Very pleased.

  49. Lori says:

Please list Stinson Beach Breakers Cafe in Stinson Beach, CA as being a pet friendly restaurant. I did not see it listed on your website. My husband and I attempted to dine at the restaurant across the way from Beach Breakers with our two dogs. This is a restaurant that your website lists as dog friendly. We were refused service unless we “tied our dogs to the railing at the front of the restaurant.” We promptly left and inquired at Stinson Beach Breakers Cafe about their pet policy. They said pets were welcome on their patio, and to their knowledge, they were the only establishment in town where this was the case.

Had a lovely time with husband, dogs, and friends at Stinson Beach Breakers Cafe. So, please update your information for folks going to Stinson Beach who need a good dog friendly restaurant..
