Restored in 1992 complete with beautiful landscaping and gardens, this 1851 National Historic Landmark is a working capitol that also preserves the history and politics of the state. It is the site where the 1 and only Confederate President was sworn in and also where the 1965 Right to Vote March ended. Dogs are allowed on the grounds,,, they are not allowed in buildings. Dogs must be leashed and under their owner’s control at all times.
