Blue Goose Steam Excursion Train
The Blue Goose excursion train rides on railroad tracks that were built in 1888. The train travels over Butcher Hill in Yreka and then down through the scenic Shasta Valley with Mt. Shasta in the view. The train then crosses over the Shasta River and continues on to the old cattle town of Montague. The distance is about 7.5 miles one way and takes approximately 1 hour to arrive. Upon arrival in Montague, passengers disembark the train and will have about 1.5 hours for lunch and to explore the historic town of Montague. During lunchtime, the train is pushed back in preparation for the return trip to Yreka. The train returns to pick up passengers about 15 minutes before departure. The total round trip time for this ride is about 3.5 hours. Trains run from Memorial Day Weekend to the end of October on a limited schedule. Well-behaved leashed dogs that are friendly towards people and children are welcome. They ask that you please keep your pooch out of the aisles once on the train.
