A National Natural Landmark, this beautiful state park is rich in its natural beauty, history, and geology, and features Vikingsholm, one of the best examples of Scandinavian architecture in the western hemisphere. The park is also home to Lake Tahoe’s only island, Fannette Island, and there are a variety of recreational opportunities to pursue. Dogs of all sizes are allowed in developed areas, picnic grounds, and on paved roads. They are not allowed on the trails, beaches, or in the Vikingsholm area, and they must be inside a tent or vehicle from the hours of 10 pm to 6 am. Dogs must be under their owner’s control at all times, be on no more than a 6-foot leash, and be cleaned up after.
