Description
This popular lake and recreation area is located in the Sierra Foothills. The Folsom Lake State Rec Area is approximately 18,000 acres, of which, 45% is island. Leashed dogs are allowed almost everywhere in this park except on the main beaches (there will be signs posted). But there are many other non-main beaches all around Folsom Lake where your dog is welcome.
There are about 80 miles of dog-friendly trails in this park. This park is also adjacent to the American River Parkway, a 32-mile paved and dirt path, which stretches from Folsom Lake to downtown Sacramento. Folsom Lake has various entry points and can be reached via Hwy 80 or Hwy 50. It is located about 25 miles east of Sacramento. From Hwy 80, exit Douglas Blvd in Roseville and head east. From Hwy 50, exit Folsom Blvd. and head north. There is a minimal day-use fee.
